Dark Knight, The

Featuring Heath Ledger as The Joker in his final performance, The Dark Knight transcended being a mere comic book adaptation to become a bleak and brutal crime drama that had serious consideration for an Academy Award. It's faithful enough to the comics that Batman fans loved it, and epic enough to appeal to everyone else. With Heath's performance of The Joker being so incredible, he has now become no less than an icon, and very likely the best villain in film in a long time.
